All I Want...
Dec. 8th, 2009 06:45 pmThey are doing some maintenance on our buildings at my condo complex, in and of itself not a bad thing, and they are predictably behind schedule.
Again, whatever - I'm an engineer, construction is never on schedule.
But when you're going to publish a schedule, maybe it shouldn't be two weeks out of date.
Or if you're going to tell people you're starting construction and they need to remove things from their patio - START WORK - or tell people they needn't bother.
Because I've gotten THREE notices that work is going to begin and to remove things from my balcony and not work has actually happened and no notices telling me I can move things back onto the patio have been sent.
Which means that I have had patio furniture and my BBQ taking up space in my livingroom for over a month. Taking up the space where my CHRISTMAS TREE should be. Merry Fucking Christmas to me, I can't put up an tree because there's no space. I can't put up lights because my balcony has to be clear. AND I can't put a wreath on my door.
On top of which not a single person who SHOULD respond (aka property manager, construction manager) will return my calls.
And hey, fine, whatever be douchebags and don't call back. But NOW you've decided to actually start the GD work so I get ANOTHER notice, this one says work starts on Dec. 15th and will go 5-10 days. So... there goes any chance of putting up a tree BEFORE the holiday.
On top of which apparently they have to remove my sliding glass door AND I have to take down my blinds - so they're going to have access to my house? Does the door go back on each day - cause it's cold out there. And how do I take down my blinds? I am also going to assume they won't care for the dish attached to my patio but I can't remove it so...
I left a polite but obviously annoyed message on the property management company's phone, more phone calls tomorrow I guess.
EDIT: Construction manager called back:
1. They aren't removing the doors anymore so, yay on that bit - idiots for fucking up the notices.
2. They're removing the railings and doing work on the balcony's - he said 3 sunny days. Once that is done.. some other group is redoing the railings. So, who knows when the railings go back up but he said if I called he would come over and move my patio furniture out there himself and put the barrier back so I can put up a tree. He also said they would try to figure something out so my dish stays active - but something tells me I'm going to be without cable for the rest of the year.
