Leave a ship here that I know, any ship (canon or AU, realized or unrealized, RP), and I will tell you my opinion on:

who is the big spoon/little spoon
what is their favorite non-sexual activity
who uses all the hot water in the morning
what they order from take out
what is the most trivial thing they fight over
who does most of the cleaning
what has a season pass in their DVR
who controls the netflix queue
who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working
who steals the blankets
who leaves their stuff around
who remembers to buy the milk
who remembers anniversaries

I'm going to finish this, even if its months later now. >.>

Day 06 - Favorite book of your favorite series OR your favorite book of all time.

Can I do both? I guess since I'm in charge I can do anything.

My favorite book of my favorite series is the fourth book in the Anne of Green Gables series - Anne of Windy Poplars. I love that chunks of it are told through letters, that for the first time since being a newly arrived orphan in Avonlea Anne has to convince people to like her and I'm a total sucker for the fact that Gilbert has gotten the girl after all the name calling, slate breaking, lake rescuing, near death by fever and her first refusal of his marriage proposal. It's Anne grown up, graduated from college, in love and just as meddlesome and capable of getting into scrapes as she ever was at eleven.

My favorite book of all time is Jane Austen's Persuasion, for reasons that I've mentioned before it's a book that aside from being a beautifully heartbreaking love story manages to ground me.

I liked this one, it made me smile when I read it from [livejournal.com profile] propernice so I thought I'd do it myself and pass along the smiling.

Everyone can use a smile.

The BBC believes most people will have read only 6 of the 100 books listed here. Bold those books you've read in their entirety, italicize the ones you started but didn't finish or read an excerpt.

A lot of these I read for school, in HS or for my Comparative Lit stuff in college... admittedly many of the partially read ones fall into that category.

Day 05 - A book or series you hate.

I know it's a classic, I know it's a glorious tragic love story, I know it was written by a freaking Bronte but I have never been able to make myself finish Wuthering Heights.

I could care less what happens to any of them except maybe poor Isabella, the main characters aren't even a little sympathetic being a brute bent on revenge and a spoilt princess and the gothic air and prose I love so much in Jane Eyre (the other Bronte) or The Fall of the House of Usher (Poe) comes across as melodramatic and unwieldy.

On a more contemporary not, I managed to finish the first Anita Blake book (barely) but I continue to be mystified at why LKH's books are so popular.

Day 04 - Your favorite book or series ever

My favorite book ever is Persuasion by Jane Austen. I have waxed poetic about it here more than once and you are all probably tired of hearing about it so if you don't know about how it sort of saved my life go here and read it.

My favorite series ever is hands down the Anne of Green Gables books. I've read the whole series multiple times from the first book where she's a wild child orphan longing for puffed sleeves to the last book where she's a mother of many and thinks her husband might be in love with another woman (he's not - pretty sure it was Anne or nothing for Gilbert from the moment she broke a slate on his head). Depending on my mood I read all of them or just pick one that is suited to how I'm feeling.

Day 03 - The best book you've read in the last 12 months.

Since I got my Kindle I've been re-reading a lot of old favorites, and/or classics since they were free so this question is sort of two parts for me.

The best book I re-read int he last 12 months was 'The STAND', I had forgotten in the fifteen or so years since I had last read it just how must I loved it. How much depth both in story and character there was and how realistic Stephen King managed to make the end of the world and what happens after - including the relationships and governments of the people who survived.

The best book I read for the first time in the last 12 months was a book called 'Faking It' by Elisa Lorello. Admittedly I was trolling Amazon for cheap/free books with salacious titles... and what i got was a novel about self discovery, relationships, writing and basically learning hoe to live instead of faking it. I loved it so much I immediately bought the sequel and read it.

Day 02 - A book or series you wish more people were reading and talking about.

The 'Jane Austen Book Club', okay so a ton of people have read it and they made a movie - but I still like to tell people about it. Heck I even love the movie. In any case I remember when it was just another novel on the local author's rack at the indy bookstore in Davis. It's a sort of quiet book, in the Jane Austen mold but it has always seems hyper real to me, which may be because it takes place here in Sacramento.
nozenfordaddy: (Book Addict)
I'm a self professed book addict so this one seemed like it was right up my alley - plus a reason to post to my personal LJ more.

Day 01 - A book series you wish had gone on longer OR a book series you wish would just freaking end already (or both!)

The Stephanie Plum series. I love the books, great literature they are not but fun, high paced stories that I usually read in a single sitting and characters that Janet Evanovich really brings to life. I can't help but look forward to the next one, the books are pure entertainment... but honestly there are like 25 of them now counting the between the numbers novels and until it ends she's going to keep waffling between Morelli and Ranger (and occasionally Diesel) and it's starting to piss me off.

When the penultimate decision/conflict in a series has dragged on so long it's making people hate the main character it's time to stop. That or it's time to fish or cut bait and make a frigging decision.

Anyway - time to end it, put me out of my on again off again misery - though I figure she's going to push it to Tingling Twenty or something like that so it's going to be at least four years.

I know I'm supposed to tag people but.. who's going to make me?
nozenfordaddy: (Default)
Stolen from too many people to list. Comment on this entry with a pairing I ship from one of my fandoms and I will tell you:

1. When I started shipping them
2. What I think their challenge is
3. What makes me happy about them
4. What makes me sad about them
5. What moment I wish had never happened
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
7. My happily ever after for them

A list off the top of my head... if you know of others feel free to ask. Or a fandom you're curious about. Hadn't realized my ships were so conventional till I started listing them.

You Fall for the Sensitive and Romantic Type

You are a bit of an idealist when it comes to love, and you want to be with a partner who appreciates romance as much as you do.

You know you've found your soulmate when you're with someone you'd die for. You believe in sacrificing everything for true love, if necessary.

A simple "I love you," kiss, or even look can sweep you off your feet. You tend to get lost in the moment.

You believe in happy endings, and you're looking for a prince or princess willing to ride off into the sunset with you.

Reply to this post, and I'll tell you one reason why I like you. Then re-post this and spread the love.

From [livejournal.com profile] pseudicide

First ten to comment get a short fic of their choosing (as long as I know who the characters you want are and feel capable of writing them). In exchange, you have to post something similar (offering fics or sketches or what have you) in your journal.

I like this one! Will also attempt poetry (badly), or original fic if you're feeling like taking a chance.

Happy Meme

This is an interactive post stolen shamelessly from [livejournal.com profile] worlddescending.

I hadn't thought about it until I saw her post that I don't often take the time to think about the things that make me happy. Even if they are random little things that make my day. So now I'm thinking about it.

My gut is to be trite, rain drop on roses and whiskers on kittens and all that jive, but I think it's because I don't really have an answer to the question. So here is a pictorial of a few things that I think qualify.

If you're happy and you know it... )
