In the Last Decade

I was thinking about it today, because of the year I was born in each decade of my life corresponds to a 'new' decade. We'll not get into a discussion about why in hell years ending in nine are an epoch and start new millenia or decades - because it makes no sense to me but since it does and since we just ended one I feel like it's not a bad time to look back.

My first decade was fairly normal, my second uneventful but the last decade - the one we just said goodbye to was as I consider it a big one for me. Maybe it was because it was the first decade of my adulthood, maybe because it was the new millenium, maybe it's because I remember five years ago a hell of a lot better than fifteen, or twenty five years ago so it just seems more eventful.

Anyway, around 2 am I started making a list, in the last decade (not in chronological order):

01. I turned 21.
02. I graduated from college.
03. I lived alone for the first time.
04. My grandfather died.
05. I lost my virginity.
06. I loved.
07. I graduated from college.
08. I passed the P.E. Exam.
09. I got my first 'real' job.
10. I bought a house.
11. I bought a car.
12. I got a cat.
13. I got back into (and back out of) community theater.
14. Got a tattoo.
15. I quit my first 'real' job and got my second.
16. I stopped biting my nails.
17. I traveled to the other coast, alone.
18. I bought another car.
19. I lost.
20. I got drunk enough to be sick days later.
